Review: Changeling Moon by Dani Harper

Review:

I picked up this book for a new take on weres and I was surprised to find Dani's Changeling's were well worth the read. It was refreshing to see that Dani brings in a female pack leader for the Changelings in her debut book. Although this book is based on a different member of the pack, the leader and her mate were a fun couple to get to know too. This book is about Connor, who is a veterinarian Changeling. I found myself wrapped up in this story. From the first page, Dani mixes suspense and adventure for her characters. Although you meet many different people, each one is distinct and unforgettable. The heroine of the book Zoey is strong willed and snappy. I like her right away. She does things her way and sometimes the reader worries for her. The antagonist in the story is a bit creepy and he does some horrible acts, but the reader keeps hoping for a happy ending. Conner and Zoey have a intense attraction that can go from steamy to mellow,it keeps the page turning. The are some twists in the story which will leave the reader wanting more and glad to know there will be additions soon to this new series.

Mini-Review: Archeron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I was so afraid to read this book. To this Dark-Hunter fan, Archeron is untouchable. Yet, I've spent the last two day immersed in this book. The first part of Archeron's book is heart wrenching. He goes through so much during his early years that I wanted to reach into the book and hug the man.
The second part is set in the present and I'm happy with the heroine chosen for Archeron. She is someone we met before in a previous book but didn't really notice her. She jumps off the pages with her personality.
Sherrilyn did an awesome job with Archeron's story. I don't know how how she's going to top this one, but I'm looking forward to what she's got in store for us next.

Review: Seaborn by Chris Howard

Seaborn by Chris Howard
Fantasy
$7.99Publication Date:

June 2008(ebook), July 2008 (print)

(Book Description from Juno book page)

All Life began in the ocean. The tides, the salt, the rolling waves are in our souls. The sea will always have the power to call us home.

There is a world deep under the sea, a kingdom that has endured thousands of years without the modern world knowing it exists. Those who dwell there are Thalassogenêis: SEABORN

Kassandra is the Seaborn king's granddaughter--the one he wishes he'd killed when he'd had the chance. She comes from the sea, but she has spent her whole life in exile on the surface, learning to control strange and frightening powers she barely understands. But now she's ready to declare war on the murderous king.

Corina Lairsey is a scuba-diving Californian who has freed herself from a controlling relationship...and finds herself in another. Only this time, Aleximor, an ancient Seaborn sorcerer, is literally inside her head and wearing her body. Corina must strive for control of her self, fighting against time as Aleximor trades pieces of her life away in exchange for power over the path between the worlds of the living and the dead.

Aleximor wants revenge for his 400-year imprisonment and his dangerous machinations threaten to destroy both young women and the world of the Seaborn.

Look through Chris Howard's art gallery, there's beautiful paintings of the Seaborn.

Seaborn is one of those books that after I finished reading it, I still want more. Chris's dubut has your imagination on overdrive. Seaborn is filled with action, suspense, devotion and a bit of horror.

The main characters are memorable.Kassandra comes off as untouchable, physically and mentally. I was a bit scared of her at first, until I saw where her loyalties lied. I think of her as an underwater amazon warrior.

Aleximor is a passionate and scary character. He's one of those people you like but a part of you knows you shouldn't.

Corina has a strong will . Even though Aleximor has taken over her body, she plays a big role throughout the book. I wanted to fight with her.

Seaborn takes the reader on a non-stop above and below the sea adventure. It follows many different story lines that come together at all the right times. The fast-paced chapters will have you up all night not wanting to miss what is going happen next. You'll go from reading Aleximor/Corina's journey from the Pacific to the Atlantic to reading Kassandra's internal and external battles toward becoming the warrior and leader she is meant to be. Chris's details in this debut are remarkable. I was amazed at the gory detail of how Aleximor recruits his army of the dead and reading what it takes for a surfacer to become Seaborn. You won't want to put this book down.

A Quickie

Sorry that the blogging has been sporadic. It's crunch time for school right now. I'm in the middle of writing papers. Only two more weeks of spring semester to go.

Next week I have two special guests, authors Cynthia Eden and Nancy Haddock. Both have new paranormal releases out. Make sure to stop in and find out more about them. :)

I did get to read a good book recently, The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks. I finished it in two days(that's fast for me) I fell in love with the hero and heroine. Jean-Luc is a clothing designer/vampire whose past likes to catch up with him. Heather is a mother whose learned to face her fears and take control of her life and then meets this gorgeous French man who complicates her life in the best and worst ways. There is action, love and family in this book that I couldn't help but get sucked into.

Spotlight Review: Personal Demons by Stacia Kane

Personal Demons
By Stacia Kane
Juno Books
April 1, 2008
ISBN-10: 0809572559
ISBN-13: 978-0809572557

When psychological counselor Megan Chase promises listeners to her new radio call-in show she'll slay their personal demons, they believe her. So do the personal demons. Megan doesn't know she's the only human alive without a personal demon on her shoulder. This, coupled with her psychic abilities, makes her a valuable weapon for any demon mob-like "family" lucky enough to gain her allegiance. It also makes her a serious threat not just to the personal demons, but to a soul-sucking Legion of Hell known as The Accuser. The Accuser already has an old score to settle with Megan, and sees this as the perfect time to do it. But Megan isn't without allies as she's plunged back into a world she forgot existed. A member of a competing demon family sees Megan as his ticket to power, and sets about both protecting and seducing her with devilish intensity. Can Megan, her new demon lover, a witch with poor social skills, and three cockney guard demons named Malleus, Maleficarum, and Spud defeat not only The Accuser, the personal demons, and the ghosts of Megan's past, but the reporter who threatens to destroy Megan's career as well?

I received an ARC a few days ago and could not stop reading once I started it. I'm a bit of a virgin at writing reviews,so please bare with me. I wanted to add parts of the book in the review, but wasn't sure if I could do that with a book that hasn't hit the shelves yet. So here is my review on Personal Demons......

Personal Demons is an exciting new addition to the urban fantasy/paranormal romance genre. Its action packed, humorous and suspenseful. There were parts where I was looking over my shoulder to make sure no one was lurking behind me. The heroine and hero were slightly reluctant when it came to their hearts, but even their kisses heated up the pages. Megan Chase is a psychic/psychologist that will get into your head to solve the problem. Since this book is written in first person, it was easy to feel Megan's experiences in the book.Greyson Dante is a hot demon who is unforgettable. He has a bit of alpha male in him,but its hard not to like his lighter side. Even the secondary characters were memorable. My favorites were the Cockney Bodyguard Brothers, they had me cracking up the way they “watched over” Megan day and night. Hopefully Stacia has them in future books. This book will have you thinking about your own personal demons and wanting more from Stacia Kane.

Extra!Extra! Stacia's has a contest going on and it's not too late to enter ! Put the book on your Amazon Wishlist (and YES, Chapters wishlists/orders count too, same with B&N.com.) Pre-order it! Tag it! Talk about it! For more on the contest go HERE(Check the March 3, 2008 Post)

A Diary Snippet and a Review

A snippet from Alicia’s collection of condom notes:

During Roman times, a magic condom became popular. This condom supposedly protected the users from pregnancy and from evil spirits. To make a magic condom the woman collected a large handful of fur from a she-mule’s mane. During the foreplay stage, the man and woman wove a condom from the fur, which was then used during lovemaking.

Alicia’s note – sounds uncomfortable and itchy but the foreplay might be interesting. Did it leak? Source: Humble Little Condom by Aine Collier

A Short Review of Amethyst Moon

I just finished Amethyst Moon . It is a nice smooth quick read.I was taken to another world that lies beneath an Amethyst moon. Got to meet and awe over two sexy hardworking heroes and a herioine who had me rooting for her choice. I was scrolling through the book so fast, I'm surprised I slowed down when it heated up. I hope to be able to visit their world again.
