There is something in his eyes that makes her wonder if he is as dangerous as he would have her believe.

Locked up as a prisoner, called "mad" by all of the world, he will do anything to reclaim his life, and Grace's sensuous beauty has distracted him from his goals. "Devil's Jewel"

Busy End of The Year

Time has been flying by this month. It's almost the end of my semester,I've been studying as much as possible and trying to squeeze some leisure reading in too.

My middle daughter turns six tomorrow,we had a girl party yesterday and had fun painting nails, faces and pictures. I only had a few kids here, but I still had barely any time to just sit down. *g* We're taking her out to dinner tomorrow , Chinese, she loves chow mien and anything with shrimps.

I'm officially an auntie, my little sister had a baby boy recently. It's nice not being the only one with kids.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Fiona Fine’s letter to the media to post …

November 4th, 2007
You can also post the following letter and book cover to enter the Twelve Days of Bigtime contest.
Dear Civilians,
It has come to my attention there is an ongoing debate about the greatest superhero of all time. Batman. Spider-Man. Wonder Woman, Wolverine. All of them have their fans and detractors, their champions and critics.
Well, I’m here to put an end to this silly confusion once and for all. Because I’m fun, I’m fabulous, and I am the greatest superhero alive. Period.
My name? Fiera. Protector of the innocent. Superhero du jour. And all-around fabulous individual.
My powers, you ask? Superstrength, for one. And I’ve got a temper to match my fire-wielding abilities. I punch and flambe my way through the ubervillains and other evil doers who want to take over the city of Bigtime, New York.
By night, I’m also a member of the Fearless Five, the greatest superhero team ever to roam the streets of Bigtime. Right now, we’re hot on the trail of Siren and Intelligal, who villains bent on taking over the city. Not on my watch, they won’t. Also making a pest of himself is Johnny Angel, who wants revenge on the ubervillains for killing his predecessor. Angel’s not a bad guy, but he should know better than to get in my way. No matter how sexy he is.
In real life, I’m Fiona Fine, one of Bigtime’s premier fashion designers. I’m known for my bold choice of colors, fabrics, and patterns. My couture clothes, of course, are to die for.
You can read more about my adventures and general fabulousness in the latest Bigtime book from Jennifer Estep, appropriately titled Hot Mama (Berkley Trade; Nov. 6, 2007; $14; ISBN-10: 0425217345; ISBN-13: 978-0425217344).
Sweet girl, Jennifer. Although she could so use a fashion makeover. The girl is way too fond of cutesy T-shirts, and she doesn’t even own a pair of stilettos. Poor thing. She’s so misguided …
Warmly,
Fiera aka Fiona Fine
Member of the Fearless Five
Protector of the innocent
Superhero du jour
As dictated to Jennifer Estep (who will never, ever wear a pair of stilettos)

A Couple Great YA Reads

Blacklisted by Gena Showalter

Alien hunting can get a girl killed. It can also get her a date.
High school senior Camille Robins and her best friend are determined to snag the attention of their crushes before graduation next month. Armed with red-hot outfits and killer hair, they sneak into the hottest nightclub in town —which caters to the rich and famous, both human and alien. They end up following Erik (who is human) and Silver (who isn’t) through a guarded door and are soon separated and under attack. . . and not the good kind.
Bad boy Erik spares Camille’s life, but the two are soon being chased by gun-toting Alien Investigation and Removal agents. Camille’s more confused than ever because Erik’s finally showing real interest in her, but the agents are accusing him of dealing Onadyn—a drug that ruins human lives. Suddenly, with the heat of his kiss lingering on her lips, Camille has to decide whose side she’s on . . . and whether she’s willing to put her life on the line to save Erik’s.

If you read Gena's romance Alien Hunter series, you'll love her YA alien hunters too. It's like watching her scenes play out on the big screen and anticipating whats going to happen next.

Top Ten Uses for an Unworn Prom Dress by Tina Ferraro
Sophomore year, Nicolette Antonovich was dumped two days before prom by the hottest guy at school. As a result, she became the proud owner of one unworn, perfectly magical pink vintage dress. But Nic is determined to put that night behind her for good. She's a junior now— older, wiser, and completely overwhelmed by a new set of problems: (1) The bank's ready to foreclose on her childhood home. (2) Her father's too busy with his "replacement" daughter to care. (3) Her best friend's brother is an eternal thorn in her side. (4) Her best friend isn't exactly the rose attached to that thorn. (5) Rumors are flying around school that could get her kicked off the volleyball team, which would (6) ruin all chances of a college scholarship. (7) She still likes the boy who dumped her in the first place. (8) And what in the world do you do with an unworn prom dress, anyway? Strangely, it's getting to the bottom of this last dilemma that just might hold the answer to all Nic's problems.
I really enjoyed reading Tina's book. Tina has strong emotional characters that you're sitting there reading and thinking that Nic could be you. She also mentions a place for prom dresses hat I didn't even know existed.

Fantastic Fives And A Hot Excerpt From Stephanie Rowe

Five words and/or phrases that describe you:

Hmm... determined, for sure, and if you don’t believe me, I have 18 unpublished complete manuscripts and over 130 rejections prior to my first sale to prove it. What else? I have a massive sweet tooth for chocolate, cookies and tart things. Fortunately, they all give me headaches the next day, so I can often manage to refrain when I think about how many pages I have to write the next day and how much harder it will with a chain saw grinding at my forehead. I am fairly solitary, and I love spending the day totally by myself with nothing but my computer and a book. Now that I’m a full time writer and gets lots of alone time writing, I am much more social because I have enough alone time to recharge. Oh! I know. I’m very impatient. I have goals, I want to accomplish them NOW. The business of writing has been so difficult for me because it is all about patience and waiting and slow progress, and that’s not my thing. Fortunately
, I have been blessed with an agent and a husband who know what I’m like and are brilliant at talking me down off the ledge. I’d never survive without them. Lastly, I think I’m a bit of a control freak. Having a toddler had done wondrous things to force me to learn to let go, because once you have a baby in the family, you quickly learn that control is an illusion and all you can do is hang on for the ride and do your best to come in for a landing every once is a while. But it’s all great, and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Five people and/or things that inspire you:

My two year old daughter is a huge inspiration, mostly because she shows me what I’ve forgotten in my cynical, old adulthood. To her, life is about laughter, it’s about being in the moment, it’s about finding joy in everything around her, it’s about hugging when you want to hug, running when you want to run, sleeping when you want to sleep. She reminds me to stop and notice the squirrels racing up a tree with acorns in his mouth, to stop and smell every flower as we walk down the street, to listen to the birds and dance to music in the car.

I am inspired by my husband, because he has an amazing ability to be positive and optimistic all the time. Nothing gets him down. He’s like a bar of soap bouncing on top of the water. You can hit him with tough stuff, and he lets it slide right off and he rebounds with a smile and optimism (but not in an annoying way). I truly envy his ability to be so positive and resilient. He’s been a great influence on me to work on being more positive when things get me down. I’m not his equal yet, but I’m working on it!

I am inspired by brilliant writing, by authors who can create characters so magical that you lie awake at night thinking about their problems and reliving their joys. My latest fave is the new Lisa Kleypas historical. It’s the first book of hers I’ve read and quite truly, she is brilliant. It’s humbling, but so inspiring as well.

I am also inspired by the World Championship bronze medalist, Kara Goucher. (see my blog post about her
http://www.themidnighthour.net/it-all-comes-down-to-one-simple-word/).

I am inspired by chocolate chip cookie dough. How can something so simply be so truly amazingly delicious?

Five of your favorite authors:

Well, as of today, Lisa Kleypas is one of my new favorite authors, having just read my first book by her this week. It was awesome. Dick Francis, Julie Garwood, and Jayne Anne Krentz are on the top of my list as well, as you would deduce from the fact that I have every single one of their books on my bookshelf. As for the others... well... I have to admit I’m sort of fickle. I love so many authors and I am always immersed in whatever I’m currently reading. I recently got caught up in some romantic suspense by Marliss Melton and Samantha Graves
and I really loved those books. Can’t wait for their next ones! And of course, the list of paranormal authors is simply too extensive to list. I read a new author a week practically, sometimes more.

Describe five of your heroes/heroines through your eyes:

Oh... my heroines, as in from my writing? I was thinking my own personal heroines. Okay, my #1 hero that I’m in love with right now is Gideon, from my new paranormal suspense series coming out next year. He’s so tortured, but he’s so honorable and so hot, and so tender... I just adore him. His book is called: The Order of the Blade: The Rise of Temptation, and it’s the second book in a trilogy that being release every other month next summer and fall (2008). Actually, I really like all three heroes in that trilogy. I tend to be the biggest fans of whatever book I’m currently working on, and since I’m in the middle of revising that series, they are the three men on my mind and in my dreams right now (much to my dh’s dismay, LOL). I think my favorite heroine (well, of the moment) is the heroine in my book that’s being released next week, SEX & THE IMMORTAL BAD BOY.
Paige has a really bad life with some really serious issues, yet she is so determined not to let it drag her down. I love her buoyancy of spirit, because that’s how I try to be (and it’s not that easy in real life!). Paige has strength, but a sense of humor as well (if a girl can keep a sense of humor about being turned into a soulless wraith who will destroy the world and everything she touches and make her Satan’s personal slave, how can you *not* like her?).

Five reasons to read you books:

Because there’s nothing like reading a story about people you admire and like, who face their worst nightmares and not only survive them, but triumph over them in a honest and soulful way, finding their true strength and their true love as they do so.

I believe in writing books that not only have a happy ending, but ones where people are good to each other, where the characters you fall in love with are touched in their soul by those around them, given hope where they previously had none.
I try to write stories of the power of dreams and of self, the strength of love, stories about equality in relationships where people learn they are at their most powerful when they learn to let themselves be vulnerable. And, of course, I believe in adventure, fast-paced action and plenty of sexy moments. (Was that more than five? Hmm....)

Yummy Excerpt From The Latest in the Immortally Bad Series
Sex & The Immortal Bad Boy

Paige froze for a split second, and then she returned his kiss with an enthusiasm that nearly dropped him to his knees. She opened her mouth for him, her tongue danced against his, and she plastered herself against him so her breasts were pressed against his chest.
A very female sound of satisfaction hummed in the back of her throat, and she kissed him deeper, meeting him thrust for thrust with every high-spirited movement of her tongue.
Her tongue flirted over his teeth, and her breath was warm in his mouth, tasting of spearmint. Her fingers twisted in his hair and she tightened her thighs around his hips, wiggling against him.
"God, you taste good," he muttered, breaking the kiss to nibble the bare skin of her neck, grinning when she whimpered. He slipped his hands under her shirt and spanned her bare back. Her muscles flexed under his hands, and he groaned at the softness of her skin. She was pure female temptation. All softness and innocence, and he wanted her so badly every muscle in his body was shaking.
He moved his right hand down over her hip, hooking his index finger over the delicate strand of lace on the sides of her underwear. He tugged it gently down, letting his thumb brush over the delicate skin on the inside of her thigh, and felt a surge of heat when Paige sucked in her breath and tightened her grip on his shoulders. Then there was a loud cat call and a whistle, yanking him back to reality in a cold hurry. He jerked his head back from her throat, cursing himself. Hell, Jed. On a street?
"No, no, no! Don't stop!" Paige grabbed his hair and tried to tug him back down. "I'm not done."
He chuckled softly as he returned the lace of her underwear to its proper position. "Yeah, I wasn't either, trust me." He carefully untangled her from him, and set her back on the ground, taking a sec to tug her shirt back down over her hips and run his fingers down her arms, before he finally dropped his hands.
Her eyes were wide, her lips parted as she ran her tongue over them, and the flush of arousal stained her cheeks. She took a deep breath that made her breasts rise under her tee shirt. "Well. I certainly wasn't expecting that when I came running out here."
He cleared his throat, feeling like an ass for molesting her on a public street. "Yeah, well, sorry. I didn't mean to—"
"Oh, no." She lightly smacked his chest. "Don't be sorry. It rocked."
Something loosened in his gut and he grinned. "Yeah?"
She nodded as she fingered her lips. "That a fantastic kiss, I'll tell you right now. I got kissed by this Markku a few weeks ago, and we were under the influence of Penhas pheromones, so it was pretty intense..."
His grin turned into a scowl.
She smiled, her eyes twinkled as she reach up and lightly brushed her lips over his. "But this was way better."
His hands went to her hips and he held her still.
For a moment, neither of them moved, then her eyes darkened with heat as she rubbed her belly against the front of his jeans. "Seriously, Jed, you can kiss me like that anytime. I have no problem with a public street if you want to do it again?" Her voice rose hopefully at the end.
He growled, entirely unable to resist the invitation as he hauled her against him and dropped his head to—
She threw up a hand to block him just before his mouth reached hers. "Oh, hell."
He blinked and tried to focus. "Oh, hell, what?"
"Hello? Where's my brain?" She patted his cheek and gently pushed him back. "I can't kiss you."

Along For The Ride by Michelle Pillow

Meet Megan Matthews, a detective who is cursed with always being right. Her instincts are good, her deductive reasoning even better. But she’s that most men find her intimidating, so she’s given up trying to find Mr. Right and has settled, perversely, for arresting Mr. Wrong.
Crime scene photographer Ryan Andrews has had a wicked crush on the sexy detective since he first took her photograph by accident at a crime scene. That picture became headline news, and she hasn’t talked to him since. He’s tried everything to get her attention, and when nothing works he’s left with only one option. But is blackmailing a cop into marriage really a good idea?

4. Lauren Dane
5. NJ Walters

Describe five of your heroes/heroines through your eyes:

1. Vladamir, Maiden and the Monster ~ He’s one of my all time favorite heroes—a product of his time (the middle ages), scarred and flawed, jealous and proud, but filled with honor and responsibility.
2. Prince Reid, Lords of the Var: The Rogue Prince ~ He’s one of those heroes I love to hate. I loved him as a side character, couldn’t wait to get to his book and then fought with the darned PITA through the entire thing. Another one of those characters was Lord Malak from Naughty Cupid 3: Cupid’s Favor
3. Kat Matthews, Bit by the Bug – I loved and understood her. She’s work focused, creative, open and sees things in ways others don’t. Plus, she’s a photographer, just like I would have been in another life.
4. Wolfram and Gin, Emerald Knight ~ As a couple, these two were a challenge. They were betrothed since birth in the Middle Ages. They grew up knowing who they would marry, when and why. Beyond this, there were many external factors to the book—the Holy Crusades, death, tournaments—that made it such and interesting story. I love the Medieval set books.
5. Rick, Space Lords Series (coming soon) ~ Rick is a side character in the Lords of the Var and Zhang Dynasty books, but one of the heroes in the upcoming installment in the futuristic galaxy – Space Lords. He’s the whole reason why his crew is cursed, a smart mouthed self-proclaimed ladies man and one hell of a pilot. But, he’d also give his life for a friend. It’s going to be fun seeing what he does in his book. I can’t wait!

Seven Days – Annie Dean
Teresa intends to devote her life to the church, immaculate and untouched. Into her quiet life comes a beautiful devil sent to test her purity and her determination. She is silent prayers at midnight; he is the flash of gold in a gambler's palm. She has known nothing but service and self-sacrifice. He has known nothing but centuries of carnal sin.
Neither know anything about love.
If she denies him, she condemns him to eternity in Hell. If she yields, she forfeits her soul. Who will emerge victorious? To find out, join Dev and Teresa for seven days of temptation.
The Straw Man – Bonnie Dee
A lonely woman imagines the perfect man and accidentally conjures him into being on All Hallows Eve. For a single night she has the lover of her dreams, but a night isn’t nearly enough. Can she find a way to turn her fantasy man back to flesh and blood?
Waking Kitty – Dionne Galace
Jack Ridley is an old-fashioned reporter. He doesn’t believe in anything unless there’s a ton of evidence to back it up and even then, he may still have a question or two hundred for it. Until he meets Kitty Jones and falls like a ton of bricks. Suddenly, Jack can’t seem to care that the ducks in a nearby park are turning pink or giant statues of naked men are appearing out of nowhere in the middle of downtown Chicago traffic.
Pink-haired Kitty Jones is beautiful, flirtatious, and seemingly happy-go-lucky. Under the cheerful, self-assured façade, however, she is slowly falling apart. Not only does she suffer from blackouts and wakes up unable to recall where she is or how she got there, she seems to be seeing dragons … everywhere. The only person she can turn to now is Jack Ridley, a tough-as-nails reporter who seems to have a few secrets of his own.

Fantastic Fives on Susan Lyons

Five words and/or phrases that describe you:

· Neurotic. I’m a writer – it goes with the territory.
· Creative. Not just with writing, but also photography.
· Organized. I’m a true mix of right brain and left brain.
· Way too busy. I really push myself to do a lot, but I also value and defend my reading time!
· A good friend.

Five people and/or things that inspire you:

· Other writers. They’re amazing people who somehow manage to write through all the neuroses (I swear, all writers are neurotic) and create memorable characters and thoughtful stories that inspire me.
· Family, friends and colleagues. Writing is a lonely life, and love and support are so important.
· Nature. I love its beauty and its strength.
· The voices in my head. All those characters and stories that are clamouring to get out.
· Real-life heroines and heroes. Whether they’re out there making the world a better place or just facing their own personal issues with quiet courage, they’re an inspiration.

Five of your favorite authors:

Barbara Samuel,
Kristin Hannah,
Luanne Rice,
Karen White,
Susan Wiggs.
They each write women’s fiction that’s on the romantic side. They create compelling, memorable characters and they all have a lovely writing style. Their work has given me so much pleasure over the years.

Describe five of your heroes/heroines through your eyes:

· I love writing about transition points in life. In real life, transitions may be triggered by external events or personal issues (like health), but often they happen because of meeting another person. That’s how it happens in my books. Women who think they know what they want meet guys who make them take a second look – and vice versa.
· Suzanne, the heroine of the first Awesome Foursome book (Champagne Rules, Feb 2006), wants a career but her priority is definitely home and family. So, I just had to team her up with Jaxon, child of an immigrant mom, who is all about career achievement.
· Jenny, heroine of the second book (Hot in Here, Aug 2006), respects her traditional Chinese-Canadian family yet wants to be a modern Western girl. She was juggling her worlds quite well, so I had to shake her up by sending her Scott, a sexy Caucasian firefighter – a man she can never take home to her parents.
· Ann, in the third book (Touch Me, Sept 2007), is the daughter of an uber-feminist mom and she’s so driven and stressed that her body’s in pain. Enter Greek God masseur, Adonis, who’s into balance, a healthy life and, oh yeah, tantric sex.
· Rina, the fourth heroine (She’s on Top, April 2008), has body-image issues that are so bad she’ll only make love in the dark. I had to pair her with a man who’s determined to bring her into the light and help her love her own body.
· Then there’s Tash, the heroine of my “Hot Down Under” novella (The Firefighter, Feb 2007), who travels to Australia to babysit her grandmother, and finds that the two of them aren’t the same women they were back home. Not after they meet two hot Australian men!

Five reasons to read your books:

· The heroines are quirky, fun and gutsy and the heroes are to die for.
· There’s always something to laugh over, plus a touch of poignancy.
· When my characters make it into bed, they have lots of fun and so will you (women readers tell me their guys are very happy when their women read my books ).
· You’ll see characters who are faced with challenges and have the courage to grow and change – and you’ll root for them and maybe it’ll help you find the courage to deal with some of your own challenges.
· I love writing and want to keep doing it, which means I need kind readers to buy my books and tell their friends!

Touch Me By Susan Lyons

Touch Me By Susan Lyons

The third book in the Awesome Foursome series, TOUCH ME is Ann Montgomery's story.
What happens when a stressed-out workaholic lady lawyer meets a Greek god masseur? For control-freak Ann, her career is all that matters. Laid-back Adonis Stefanakis has lessons to teach her: about balance, and getting in touch with her feminine, sensual side. Ann's willing to learn, but only if they play by her rules and take turns on top - i.e., in control!

Fantastic Fives on MaryJanice Davidson

(I was sparkling when MJD accepted my invite to do this fantastic five interview. MJ is one of the authors who,if I met her in person,I'd be tongue-tied from being in awe. Her books ,to me, are hilarious and they always brighten my day. )

Five phrases or words that describe you:

Verbose
Sarcastic
Funny (and not just funny-looking, either, so shut up)
Obsessed with writing (but that’s worked out all right for me)
Lazy

Five people and/or things that inspire you:

J.K. Rowling
Stephen King (I love writer rags-to-riches stories, and these two were REALLY poor before they hit the big time)
Other writers’ success (I use my crushing envy as a way to get my butt back into the writing chair)
My parents (at a time when they had no money, they risked a lot and made their dream of early retirement come true)
My husband (he’s ridiculously smart and comes up with GREAT ideas for some of my books…and if I’m stumped on an outline, he often comes up with just the right way to fix it)

Five of your favorite authors:

Rowling
Stephen King (the old stuff…nothing after Delores Claiborne)
John Sandford (the Books of Prey, starring supercool cop Lucas Davenport)
Ann Rule (true crime writer; SMALL SACRIFICES is on my Top Three List Of Greatest Books Ever)
Michelle Bardsley (funny vampire stuff…”Don’t Talk Back To Your Vampire”, etc.

Describe five of your heroes/heroines of your books through your eyes:

Betsy the Vampire Queen: vacuous, shoe-obsessed, not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but dependable in a pinch and, probably most important, a loyal friend
Fred the Mermaid: grumpy, lonely, allergic to shellfish, lousy swimmer (with legs)
King Alexander of Alaska: loud, profane, a great dad, a terrific monarch (when he can be cornered like a rat and forced to read legislation)
Sinclair the Vampire King: tall, sexy, madly in love with Betsy (and terrified by it), formidable
Ireland (in the upcoming anthology NO REST FOR THE WITCHES): easily distracted, friendly (she has opened her home to a vampire, a fairy, a werewolf, a possessed car, and a zombie), more powerful than she knows

Five reasons to read your books:

If you want a good laugh
If you want a quick read
If you want to help send my children to college
If you want to try something that will take your mind off the state of the world
If you like funny supernatural stories
